Improved Bathroom

The Challenge

An elderly lady with mobility problems and various medical problems was living alone and without assistance with daily activities. She had been finding bathing a challenge, particularly as she had little flexion in her knees and needed to completely extend her legs and lean on the walls and side of the bath to get in. A bath lift with bath steps was suggested, however, this would not be a strong enough form of support as she struggled to bend her knees.

The Solution

The Occupational Therapist that came to survey put in a referral for a wet floor shower to be fitted. The referral was made to H&H and Care & Repair got in touch a few weeks later. Following an inspection from a member of the Care & Repair team, the bath was removed and replaced with a new shower with extended riser, a shower seat with arm rests and a polyester shower curtain with antibacterial and fungal protection. A new WC was added and the existing radiator was repositioned to allow the bathroom door to fully open.
