About Zulfkar Ali
I began working in the construction industry in 1987 as a bricklayer and completed my advanced craft certificate in 1993 and later my HND 1996. After several years in this role, I moved off tools to take a role at Manchester Care & Repair as a project officer delivering a home DIY training scheme and managing repairs grants and heating upgrades.
In 2005 I set up my own construction company specialising in structural alterations, underpinning, and recording studios – I even built a recording studio for Rio Ferdinand! After 6 years I joined Yorkshire Water as a new development inspector overseeing all new sewerage, water, and flood prevention systems on new developments both domestic and commercial – I also completed my HNC in civil engineering whilst in this role.
I went on to join Care & Repair Leeds as a senior technical officer moving before becoming the Technical Manager in 2019. My hobbies include cycling, astronomy, photography & listening to audiobooks.
