Helping Someone With Dementia

The Challenge

An 82-year-old gentleman with dementia lives with his family in a privately owned detached property. Due to his dementia and his language barrier, communication was via his son and sister-in-law.

Our client shared a downstairs bedroom with his wife, which also had an en-suite bathroom. The downstairs en-suite had a large corner bath with no support, and the family wanted grab rails installing.

Our client also used the upstairs bathroom but there was no additional support on the staircase.

Draughts from the downstairs windows were creating problems throughout the house.

The Solution

We installed six rails throughout the home, on the stairs and in the bathroom, to ensure that our client could move safely around the home.

A referral to Green Doctors was made to assist with the draughts throughout the house.
