As a registered charity Care & Repair receives dedicated funding from a variety of sources to carry out the much needed work we do to help people live independently in their own homes.

However, sometimes that funding can be restrictive and not allow for that additional help that could make a real difference to the work we do.

If you would like to give Care & Repair a donation we would be glad to receive it. All donations are collected into a standalone fund which is used for a variety of purposes to support our funded work.

Sometimes our clients are in need of a little additional help but don’t meet the specific financial criteria laid down to access the support provided through a funding stream, your donation can help this…

EXAMPLE 1 –  a client who lived alone with her baby and was on maternity leave had some work done in her bathroom. The builder left the work incomplete and she had run out of funds to bring in another builder to finish it off.  Care & Repair worked with her to identify what was needed to complete her bathroom, she was supported by a loan from her parents and C&R made up the rest.

Sometimes we make up the shortfall when true costs of a project outstrip the funding available. Some of our clients who have homes in disrepair qualify for funded small repairs, but if the cost of repairs goes over the allowed amount, we can use our donations pot to make up the difference.

EXAMPLE 2 – a client needed an upgrade to her radiators, we used our donation fund and some other funding from Gas Safe to add to the repair allowance to ensure that the client had a working heating system.

Sometimes the donations fund helps us to maintain our service…

EXAMPLE 3 – a survey on the roof of the Care & Repair building several years ago indicated that significant work was needed to stop rain  coming into the building. We couldn’t afford to allocate such a large sum to this repair even though it was obviously needed but thankfully we were bequeathed a donation meaning we were able to finally  address the roof issues

All spending from donations is managed by our Finance Department and is audited and signed off by the CEO /Trustees. All donations go to very worthwhile causes which either directly or indirectly help us to deliver our mission which is:

To offer the choice of independent living to all, to meet our clients’ needs by proactively future-proofing homes and responding to their changing needs.
