Pride in Care Quality Standard Achieved by Care & Repair
Care & Repair began implementing the Pride in Care standard in 2021 as part of a pilot commissioned by Leeds City Council and we are delighted to announce we have now been awarded the Pride in Care Quality Standard.
Leeds City Council commissioned Opening Doors London (ODL) to pilot their quality mark called Pride in Care with social care services in Leeds and as an organisation that works with older people Care & Repair Leeds were delighted to take part in the pilot.
Opening Doors London is the largest organisation for older lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) people in the UK providing befriending services, social groups and activities and Health and social care training.
The Pride in Care quality mark is recognised across the UK and will give independent recognition that our organisation delivers excellent services to older LGBT+ people.
Our service was supported throughout the process of obtaining the quality mark by a member of the Opening Doors London team and they worked with us to look at the following to ensure our services are LGBT+ inclusive:
Customer service
Safety and security
Policy and procedures
Publicity and promotion
Recruitment and training
The assessment of Care & Repair Leeds, received in late October 2023 concluded:
“Overall, Care & Repair has shown an extremely high level of engagement with the principles of Pride in Care as well as the quality standard assessment process, seeking to improve the inclusion of their service over time. We look forward to continuing our work with Care & Repair over the next years and are pleased to approve the organisation for the award of the quality standard for LGBTQ+ inclusion.”
We will continue to work closely with partners to continue this great work and meet the standard in the years to come.
