Health In Cities Report – recognition for our Home Plus service

The Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Witty, has published his report Health In Cities, which can be downloaded here.

Professor Whitty’s report outlines a broad range of health opportunities and challenges for city populations, and includes case studies from core cities in England.

In the report (at page 87) he recognises the value of the Home Plus service which Care & Repair delivers in Leeds in partnership with Age UK Leeds and Groundwork Leeds Green Doctors.

Home Plus supports people to live safely and independently in their own homes. The report states “Prevention of ill health, avoidable admissions and delayed discharges due to health risks in the home is a priority to address inequalities in the city. This includes falls, energy efficiency and affordability, warmth and condensation/damp, and repairs. The Home Plus service takes a holistic approach to supporting people to stay safe and independent within their own homes.”

The service is funded jointly by Leeds City Council Public Health and Housing teams and the West Yorkshire NHS Integrated Care Board. It is delivered by Care and Repair Leeds.
